Medical Assistance 2025
Medical Assistance
Poverty and illness are often intertwined. A serious illness or accident can plunge a family into hardship, leading to a loss of financial stability. Through our Medical Assistance, Tzu Chi provides direct and timely support to families in need, offering patients stability and their loved ones peace of mind.
For long-term beneficiary families facing financial constraints, rising medical costs can outstrip government subsidies and allowances. In such cases, Tzu Chi steps in to bridge the gap. Beyond subsidising medical expenses, we also provide essential medical consumables such as adult diapers, stoma bags, and nutritional milk. Our island-wide volunteers sort and personally deliver these supplies monthly, bringing not just material aid, but also warmth and compassionate care.

Every day, approximately six people in Singapore are diagnosed with kidney failure. For Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents facing financial difficulty, Tzu Chi offers timely support. We provide Interim Dialysis Assistance, subsidising treatment costs at private dialysis centres while they await long-term subsidised placement (this crucial aid can last up to six months).
Furthermore, Tzu Chi provides Dialysis Transport Fee Assistance for patients with mobility issues, ensuring they can travel smoothly to their appointments. Our volunteers also conduct monthly home visits, offering moral and psychosocial support, and extending further living assistance based on individual needs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) services are popular among the Chinese community, especially in areas like Redhill, a community with a relatively high elderly population. Therefore, since November 2011, Tzu Chi Free Clinic (Singapore) started offering free TCM services such as consultation and acupuncture treatment from Monday to Friday to make full use of its space to meet local needs. The TCM clinical services are free for everyone regardless of religion and race. After serving the local community for more than a decade, the clinic was officially renamed Buddhist Tzu Chi TCM Free Clinic (Redhill) in October 2022.
