Tzu Chi Community Dental Centre

Tzu Chi Community Dental Centre

Oral health remains a significant concern for many elderly individuals, especially retirees and those from low-income households, for whom rising dental consultation fees can be a considerable burden.

In addition to its clinic-based services, the centre offers home-based dental care, a service that remains relatively uncommon in Singapore, and extends its care to residents in nursing homes. Through close partnerships with care institutions, Tzu Chi also delivers bedside dental treatment to patients who are unable to leave their beds, ensuring dignified oral healthcare is available to all, regardless of mobility or circumstance.

Bringing Dental Care to Those Unable to Come to Us

Patients with mobility challenges are among the underserved groups who face significant barriers to accessing dental care. Providing treatment to individuals who are homebound or residing in nursing homes often requires considerably more time and effort compared to conventional clinic visits. This includes the careful packing, transportation, and assembly of specialised portable equipment.

To meet this need, the Tzu Chi Community Dental Centre (CDC) is equipped with portable dental kits to support the delivery of home-based dental services. For nursing home visits, Tzu Chi has established long-term partnerships with several Intermediate and Long-Term Care (ILTC) institutions. These collaborations not only benefit bedridden patients but also promote oral health education among nursing staff, encouraging better long-term care practices.
