Seniors Engagement & Enabling Node (SEEN)

As Singapore transitions into a super-aged society, the government has introduced various initiatives to build a more senior-friendly and inclusive community.

Guided by the belief that “prevention is better than cure,” Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) established two senior activity centres in 2019. These centres support seniors in ageing gracefully within the comfort of their own homes, while gently encouraging them to stay active, engaged, and joyful within their communities.

Master Cheng Yen believes that the treasure of longevity is infinite. Every stage of life holds meaning, and seniors, through their experiences and wisdom, can continue to contribute meaningfully to society. She encourages elders to live a life of value in their golden years by reflecting daily and cherishing each moment as an opportunity to live with purpose.

In this spirit, Tzu Chi’s Seniors Engagement & Enabling Node (SEEN) brings together internal resources and dedicated partners to offer holistic care that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of seniors. The centres nurture a warm, kampung-style community where compassion, connection, and mutual support flourish.

Our Focus and Approach

Tzu Chi’s SEEN centres serve not only seniors but also their caregivers and families. We follow four key strategies in supporting active and meaningful ageing:

  • Activate: Encourage seniors to stay socially connected through community participation
  • Engage: Empower seniors to share life experiences and contribute their strengths
  • Empower: Support peer support groups and self-help networks
  • Safeguard: Promote holistic well-being through physical, emotional, and mental care

To date, SEEN has supported more than 1,500 seniors through a variety of enriching programmes. Our core focus areas include:

Aesthetic Living, Health and Wellness, Community Kitchen, Gardening, Intergenerational Engagement

Collaborating for the Common Good

Tzu Chi’s SEEN centres work closely with government agencies, academic institutions, and social enterprises. Through these collaborations, we aim to build an inclusive society where seniors are respected, supported, and empowered to age with dignity and purpose.
