Parent-Child Bonding Class 2025

Parent-Child Bonding Class

Growing Hand in Hand, Nurturing Hearts Together

More and more parents today recognise the profound influence they hold as their child’s first and lifelong role model. Amid life’s many responsibilities, many parents treasure opportunities to be present during their children’s formative years. The Parent-Child Bonding Class, lovingly offered by Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore), is thoughtfully created for P1 – 6 children and their parents. It provides a nurturing and enriching alternative to conventional family activities, focusing on deepening bonds and growing together in heart and spirit.

The programme adopts a unique dual-class format, where children and parents attend separate sessions tailored to their respective learning journeys. In the final hour of each class, both groups reunite through joyful and meaningful activities such as games and heartfelt sharing, allowing families to practise what they have learned and strengthen their connection through shared experiences.

Conducted entirely in Mandarin, the class also gently introduces Singaporean children who may be more familiar with English to the richness of Chinese culture in a caring and supportive setting.

Programme Highlights

For Children:

Through storytelling, nature-based activities, outdoor learning, plant-based living, gratitude ceremonies such as tea offerings, and emotional awareness exercises, children are gently guided to explore meaningful values and cultivate compassion through lived experience.

For Parents:

Sessions focus on enhancing parent-child communication, guiding children in their use of digital devices, and supporting holistic development with patience, wisdom and love.

Behind the Programme

The success of the Parent-Child Bonding Class is made possible by a devoted team of around 30 volunteers. Many have walked alongside Tzu Chi’s education mission for more than a decade, with some serving for over twenty years. These kind-hearted individuals support coordination, audio-visual needs, logistics, food preparation and other areas to ensure each class runs smoothly and harmoniously.

The curriculum is lovingly designed by members of the Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association, a team of passionate educators united by their love for children and dedication to holistic learning. Drawing from their teaching and volunteering experience, they craft learning content that speaks to both heart and mind.

We also warmly invite parents to join our volunteer team and co-create a supportive environment where children can grow with love and confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Is it necessary for a parent to accompany the child? Can another family member take their place?
At the heart of every child’s learning journey is the loving presence of their parents. Education is not just about knowledge, but also about time spent together and the gentle guidance that shapes a child’s values. As such, we kindly request that at least one parent accompany the child throughout each session to support meaningful learning and shared growth. To preserve the spirit of parent-child bonding, siblings or domestic helpers may not serve as substitutes.
Are there any dietary considerations during class?
The Parent-Child Bonding Class encourages plant-based living as an expression of kindness and care for all life. All snacks and meals provided during class are lovingly prepared and fully vegetarian. We sincerely invite parents to support this mindful and compassionate practice together with their children.
Who is eligible to register?
As class size is limited to maintain a warm and nurturing environment, priority is given to families who are donors or uniformed volunteers of Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore). We are grateful for your understanding.
How can I register?
Enrolment usually takes place between November and December each year (to be confirmed). We warmly encourage interested families to stay connected through our official website for updates, and to register early to avoid missing this meaningful opportunity.
