Community Eco Points 2025

Eco Points

Environmental protection begins in our neighbourhoods.

Every month, Tzu Chi volunteers drive community-led sustainability efforts across Singapore. At more than 30 eco points islandwide, over a thousand committed volunteers establish recycling stations and educational displays, fostering environmental awareness through hands-on engagement and meaningful dialogue.

We warmly invite you to bring your cleaned recyclables and join us for mindful living. Our volunteers are on-site to guide you through proper sorting techniques and explain how recyclables are categorised in alignment with national recycling standards. [Learn How to Recycle Right →]

If you resonate with our philosophy ‘Purity Begins at the Source’, we welcome you to become an environmental volunteer. Together, we can work toward a greener and more sustainable future.

Waste is not a burden—it is a resource waiting to be recovered.

Let’s work together to increase household recycling rates and extend the lifespan of our landfills—for the well-being of future generation.

What Happens to Your Recyclables?

Sorted at Home

Residents clean and sort recyclables before bringing them to the eco point.

Dropped Off at Eco Points

Residents bring recyclables to Tzu Chi community eco points. Tzu Chi does not offer collection services and does not operate through mobile applications or third-party agents.

Collected by Recycling Companies

Tzu Chi delivers the sorted recyclables to local recycling companies, as per regulations. Despite low market values, recycling companies collect these items out of environmental concern.

Processed at Warehouses or Recycling Plants

Recyclables are transported to local or overseas recycling plants for processing. Smaller quantities are stored in warehouses. Any profits generated from the sale of recyclables are used for charitable purposes.

Recycled Products Enter the Market

Processed recycled products re-enter local or overseas markets. Compared to manufacturing new products from raw materials, recycling reduces carbon footprint, helping mitigate climate change.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tzu Chi handle recycling through mobile applications or agents?
Tzu Chi does not operate any social media accounts dedicated to environmental initiatives, nor do we provide monetary rewards for recyclables or require mobile app installations. Please refer only to our official website for accurate information and be cautious of scams.
Can I receive monetary compensation for providing recyclables?
The Earth is our shared home. Tzu Chi encourages everyone to participate in environmental protection and adopt the 5R values in daily life. Therefore, we do not provide monetary compensation for recyclables.
Does Tzu Chi redistribute recycled items to those in greater need?
According to regulations, all collected recyclables are sold to licensed recycling companies. Tzu Chi does not redistribute recycled goods directly to beneficiaries.
Is it necessary to sort or clean items before recycling?
Proper sorting and cleaning ([link to Recycle Right]) ensure your efforts are not wasted. Mixing clean items with dirty recyclables reduces their quality and value. Please clean recyclables that are stained with oil, food residue, or waste, and do initial sorting at home to protect the volunteers who help with sorting. Let us work together to practise refined environmentalism and purity at the source.
Can organisations arrange group visits to community eco points for learning purposes?
We warmly welcome your team to visit and learn. Whether you represent a school, company, or organisation, you are welcome to contact us to plan a meaningful learning experience.
How can I invite a Tzu Chi team to promote environmental protection at my company/enterprise?
While we do not offer on-site environmental programmes, we welcome you and your colleagues to visit the Tzu Chi Glow On Gallery in Yishun for a Sustainability Learning Journey, available on Saturdays. We will provide a guided tour focusing on the environmental, economic, and social aspects of sustainability, presented in a practical and relatable manner.
I would like to encourage my neighbours to recycle—how can I set up a new eco point in my neighbourhood?

We greatly appreciate your interest in promoting community recycling. Tzu Chi’s eco points operate on the third Sunday of each month.

If your area can provide a suitable venue for a long-term collection programme, please share your contact details with us via our enquiry form. We’ll be in touch to explore the next steps with you.

How do I know if there are any changes to the dates of Tzu Chi Environmental Sustainability Day?

Tzu Chi sets the Environmental Sustainability Day schedule in advance for the entire year.

For the latest updates, please refer to our Events page, visit our official Facebook page, or contact us directly.

As a student, can my volunteer service with Tzu Chi be counted towards my Community Involvement Programme (CIP) or Community Service Programme hours?
Tzu Chi’s volunteer activities are not tied to formal certification for CIP or CSP programmes.
How does Tzu Chi handle recycled clothing?

All resources collected at community eco points, including second-hand clothing, are sorted, packed, and sold to recycling companies in different districts.

These companies clean and categorise the items before either sending them to countries in need or reprocessing them into other textile products.
