2025 Blood Donation and Bone Marrow Registry
Donate Blood. Join the Bone Marrow Registry. Save Lives with Compassion.
Blood and stem cell donations are critical to saving lives, especially for patients battling blood cancers, severe anemia, or immune disorders. Yet, Singapore continues to face a shortage of both regular blood donors and registered bone marrow donors.
To address this urgent need, Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) partners with the Singapore Red Cross each quarter to organise nationwide blood donation drives. Our dedicated volunteers assist with outreach and onsite reception, creating a calm and welcoming environment for all donors.
In collaboration with the Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP), we also provide on-site information booths to educate the public on stem cell donation and facilitate easy registration for the national bone marrow registry.
Through these initiatives, Tzu Chi continues its mission to inspire compassion, promote health, and extend hope to those in critical need of life-saving treatments.

Our Legacy of Giving: Three Decades of Lifesaving Advocacy
Since as early as 1993, Tzu Chi has supported Singapore’s Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) through fundraising campaigns and public education. Although the collaboration paused in 2007, it resumed in 2022, reigniting our shared purpose.
The 2003 SARS outbreak created a national crisis when outdoor activity came to a halt and blood reserves ran dangerously low. Rising to the occasion, Tzu Chi began working hand in hand with the Singapore Red Cross to organise public blood donation drives—a partnership that continues today, earning us the Blood Mobile Organiser Gold Award year after year.

No. In Singapore, healthy individuals aged 17 to 49 may register as bone marrow donors. Registrants are automatically removed from the database upon reaching the age of 60.
The registration process takes approximately five minutes. After submitting basic information and a brief medical history, a cotton swab is used to gently collect cheek cell samples—no blood is drawn, and no payment is required.
